If Shell Island are not informed of your wish to use the OAP rates mistakes cannot be rectified at a later date


Whitsun and August Bank Holiday
Minimum stay: 3 Nights and pay in advance on arrival

Fireworks are NOT permitted. Anyone caught letting off fireworks will be asked to leave

Motorised scooters, Jet skis, Quad bikes, Go-Peds, mixed motorbikes and Caravans are NOT permitted

Cyclists must wear helmets while cycling on the Island

Normal road rules apply, drink driving and/or speeding will be reported to the Police who patrol the Site

 

Camping Conditions


Site Booking
Campers on Shell Island must book in at Reception on arrival before pitching tent. Campers may not be admitted after sunset.

Accounts 
When settling accounts please bring your campers car pass to the Reception office. Any campers expecting to leave before 9.00 a.m. should book out before 5.00 p.m. the previous day. Cheques are only accepted on presentation of Bank Guarantee cards. Cards accepted Visa - MasterCard - Switch - Delta . Cash back available on Debit cards only.

Sites
Sites must be vacated and accounts settles by 5.00 p.m. on day of departure. Campers not complying with this condition will be charged an extra night’s fees. Campers are expected to leave their site tidy and free of all rubbish and stones. All rubbish to be taken to green skips conveniently located about the island.

Privacy
Campers may not pitch their tents within 20 yards/metres of another tent in the same field unless prior arrangement has been made with adjoining campers. Offenders are liable to be reported, when action will be taken to remedy the situation. The siting of tents should occupy the perimeter of the fields first. Centres of fields will only be used when the perimeters is fully occupied. Camping Pitches in the dune areas are as and where there are convenient pitches that afford some privacy to neighbouring campers.

Camp Fires
Campfires are not permitted on Shell Island, except on the beaches Smoke annoyance to other campers will not be tolerated. Barbecues are permitted. Disposable barbecues must be raised off the ground on a bed of stones. Any one having campfires on the beach are responsible for clearing all rubbish away afterwards. Do not leave glass bottles and cans on the beaches. 

Noise
No portable generators allowed. Radios and Televisions must have volume controls adjusted so as not to disturb other campers.

Animals
Dogs must be kept under strict control at all times. Damage or annoyance will result in their owners being asked to leave the island. Dogs are not allowed in the Leisure complex buildings.

Toilets
The main toilets are situated in the central part of the Island. Satellite toilets are at the Green cabin and in portaloos near the Acorn Village. Please report immediately to the management any person thieving of doing wilful damage. Campers using elsan toilets are advised that they must be taken to the disposal point adjoining the toilet block.

Showers
The shower block is situated behind and below the main toilet block. Showers are free and may only be used by campers and boat owners. Please report any day visitors using showers to reception.

Water Supply
Taps are conveniently situated in general next to gateways. Water taps are for filling water containers only. Washing under taps is strictly forbidden. Please report any water leakage - water is precious, and this could save your area from being cut off.

Speed Limit 
A speed limit of 20 mph covers the whole of Shell Island. 10 mph near Toilets and central area and near Acorn Venture site.

Kites 
Owing to the proximity of the airfield, Kites may not be flown during operational hours. 

Normal operational hours- Mon. - Fri. 9.00 am - 5.00 p.m.

Boat Owners
Boats and their equipment are at OWNERS RISK. No claim can be entertained by the management for personal injury, loss of life, theft, damage or total loss of boat. All boats on trailers must be registered on arrival. Insurance documents are required for all trailed boats. Trailers to be parked at owners camp. Speed limit 5 mph inside outer perch .

10 Rules

Do NOT camp within 20 metres of another tent

Do NOT cut down tress
Shell Island is an area of Special Scientific Interest (SSI). Anyone reported or caught chopping trees down will be prosecuted and immediately asked to leave

Do NOT make open fires on fields
No not make fires on the ground. All fires must be raised off the ground in fire bins. Camp fires are OK on the beach or on the estuary, please clear up any mess afterwards

Do NOT leave rubbish around your site and always take rubbish to the nearest skip
Report untidy sites to reception with relevant car registrations

Always keep your dogs under control
Shell Island beach is one of the few beaches that dogs are allowed on, so please clean up after your dog, use the doggy bins. Free doggy bags are available from reception and the toll gate

All Power Kite owners must show valid insurance
Power kites may only be flown 400 yards/metres south of the Beach car park. Buggy kites by prior arrangement only

No portable Generators
Keep any music at reasonable levels. Radios must be turned off by 11.00pm

Tidy your site when you leave
Clear away all litter to the skips. Put stones back on the walls

Barbecues are allowed.
Please raise them off the grass with rocks, etc

Break one of these rules and you could be asked to leave the site. Drive to fast or make to much noise and you will be asked to leave the site
