| About the Leatherback Turtle. This is the worlds largest recorded
leatherback turtle. It was washed ashore on Shell Island Beach, (recorded as Harlech Beach) in 1988.The turtle
weighed 916kg and measured 2.91m in length. Leatherback turtles are highly migratory and have been recorded migrating thousands of
kilometres from Caribbean nesting beaches to summer foraging habitat off Canada and the North East Atlantic. |

| About the smuggling tunnel. This is the exit to the tunnel
that empties onto the beach. This tunnel is said to travel directly to the
house and then onto Llanbedr. On high tides it is possible to see
the tunnel as air bubbles raise to the surface near to the estuary road |
