Shell Island from the Air

Ever wondered what Shell Island looked like from the air?
Well thanks to Martin you can. This was filmed from his RC plane while staying with a group of friends at the end of May during the weekend heat wave. He used a FlyCamOne v2 camera on board a Stryker. This is an electric power, polystyrene, 32" wingspan plane.

He'd Always wanted to do some coastal aerial video and thought it would be cool to get some of his campsite.

It's interesting to see the island from that high.

New rules for Dog Owners

Shell Island have introduced a new rule for owners of dogs this year.  The first 4 fields nearest to the Reception block are classed as Dog free zones.

This essentially means that if you are a dog owner and have your dog or dogs with you on Shell Island you cannot camp in these four fields.  If you are walking your dog through these fields there is no issue.

All these fields have notices on them on the entrance and exit to indicate that dogs are not allowed (to camp) in these fields

In memory of Dylan Richards

Dylan Richards the local butcher in Llanbedr passed away in Bangor hospital at New years eve during the night, 31 Dec 08 to 1 Jan 09 after a short illness.

An enormous amount of campers and boaters bought their BBQ meat etc., from him and many also knew him as a friend, who was as often as not, to be found in the Victoria pub and hotel taking a jar. He was a friend to everyone, locals and visitors alike and he will be sadly missed by all. He of course was always willing and eager to carve the pig on the Shell Islands Gala Day.
A lot of his friends will be at his funeral to send tributes, it is also very possible that many campers, boaters and others would like to do the same but may be unaware of his very sad demise.

As and when I am made aware of any details for the the date of his funeral, address for tributes etc., I will publish these here allowing those who wish to to pay their respects

Dylan's funeral has been arranged for Wednesday January 7th at 11:00 at St Peters Church in Llanbedr

As you maybe aware Dylan supplied meat for the Shell Island restaurant as well as many other local pubs and hotels and was a much loved and known person within the village and community
